Geo-coding

The site uses Google Maps to geo-code the review entries: that is to determine the latitude and longitude the entry based on its address. This geo-coding is used in the Map of reviews. Unfortunately, Google's scheme is not very accurate. One problem is that they only use the first part of the postcode.

I have read that Google are trying to fix the problem. Until they have done so, the results can be adrift. Another problem is that the Google map link at the bottom of the review ignores the latitude and longitude stored with the review, and simply submits the whole address to a Google Maps search. When I have time, I will fix that bug, unless somebody beats me to it.

For the time being, reviewers can either use my notes in the Problems page of Help to fix the Map of reviews marker or send me a message and I will try to fix it for them.
